Soil Health Tour Bismark, North Dakota

Meeting Location: 7 miles south, 1 mile west and 1.5 miles south of the Menoken Exit-170 on I-94; or 1.5 miles north of mile marker #62 on Highway 1804, Richter Farms – Victor Richter residence (145th Street SE).

The tour is a drive yourself, a pick-up is recommended. A meal will be served at McDowell Dam at the conclusion of the tour.

Tour stops:

Richter Farms – Cover Crop cocktails on pea stubble and winter triticale stubble, cowpea interseeded into corn;

Braun Angus Ranch – Brassica crops and residue management;

Brown Gelbvieh Ranch – Cowpea/millet on alfalfa stubble, cowpea/sudan on alfalfa stubble, cover crop cocktail on winter triticale stubble;

Cover Crop Plot – Using cover crops in your no-till cropping system and grazing system, soil pit, cover crop benefits, multiple cover crop combinations, cover crop seeding windows.
